The via di Campo Marzio (Campus Martius) was an area of Rome, whose foundations are based on the first king of Rome, Romulus and continue until the end of the II second century a.c. There were built shrines and private buildings. After the great fire of Rome of 80. Domitian rebuilt monuments adding a stage (later to become the Piazza Navona). Adrian converted the complex of the Pantheon. The building fabric of the neighborhood was particularly rich in monuments of the ancient buildings whose remains are still preserved. In Papal Rome the city was enriched with noble palaces and cardinals, churches and public monuments.
